Job summary

Capital One in the United States is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer (Remote-Eligible) to lead data platform initiatives across the enterprise. You will mentor engineers, architect scalable pipelines, and partner with data scientists, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions.

You will drive strategy for data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, and real-time processing using AWS, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Snowflake, and Databricks, while writing Python/SQL/Java/Scala.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
• At least 9 years of experience in data engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture
• At least 3 years of experience building applications in AWS
• At least 7 years of experience programming with Python, Java, or Scala
• At least 6 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines
• At least 4 years of experience in data modeling and designing end-to-end data solutions using relational and non-relational databases
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (Preferred)
• 11+ years of experience in data engineering (Preferred)
• 8+ years of data modeling experience (Preferred)
• 3+ years of experience with ontology standards (Preferred)
• 2+ years of experience deploying ML models (Preferred)
• 12+ years of experience in application development (Preferred)
• 8+ years of cloud data workloads experience (Preferred)
• 8+ years of data workloads with Spark/EMR/Databricks (Preferred)
• 8+ years of real-time/streaming data pipelines (Preferred)
• 6+ years of data observability or orchestration tools (Preferred)
• 8+ years NoSQL experience (Preferred)
• 8+ years data warehousing (Preferred)
• 6+ years Agile experience (Preferred)
• 6+ years developing user-centric reusable data products (Preferred)
