Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Staff Data Engineer (Remote-Eligible) to lead data platform initiatives and drive scalable, governed data solutions in the cloud. You will mentor engineers, shape architectural standards, and collaborate across teams to accelerate delivery of data products and capabilities.

You will specialize in AWS, Lakehouse architectures, and streaming/batch data pipelines, while influencing enterprise-wide data strategies and capability domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
• At least 9 years of experience in data engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture
• At least 3 years of experience building applications in AWS
• At least 7 years of experience programming in Python, Java, or Scala
• At least 6 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines
• At least 4 years of experience in data modeling and end-to-end data solutions

Responsibilities

• Lead through technical contribution and act as trusted advisor
• Architect and socialize data strategies and roadmaps
• Mentor engineers and recruit to grow Capital One Tech
• Drive platform scalability, performance, and governance
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align data architecture across units
• Develop reusable data products and innersource solutions
• Communicate complex concepts to non-technical partners
