Job summary

SonderMind in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to lead our Data Platform, shaping data infrastructure that powers analytics, ML and clinical outcomes. You will own pipelines, data models, and architecture with a focus on reliability, privacy, and scaling in a regulated healthcare environment.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive best practices, collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams, and partner across the company to raise the bar for data quality and speed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data/platform/backend engineering roles.
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency.
• Hands-on skilled with production data pipelines at scale.
• Experience with modern data platforms, cloud warehouses, orchestration and transformation frameworks.
• Strong data modeling, reliability, and system design mindset.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core data pipelines powering analytics, ML, and experiments.
• Own data architecture for ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving.
• Establish data quality, observability, and reliability standards with SLAs and monitoring.
• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product eng teams to design reusable data models.
• Lead data engineering initiatives: code quality, testing, and data contracts.
• Ensure privacy, security, and compliance for sensitive health data.
• Mentor and support other data engineers; raise engineering bar.
• Handle ad-hoc projects as needs evolve.
