Job summary

SonderMind Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to lead data platform design, build, and evolution of analytics, experimentation, ML, and clinical outcomes data. This role demands ownership, strong technical direction, and reliable data infrastructure within a regulated healthcare environment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams, and shape best practices while delivering high‑quality, trusted data for diverse business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or backend engineering.
• Strong SQL and at least one general-purpose language (Python preferred).
• Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines at scale.
• Experience with modern data platforms, cloud warehouses, orchestration, and data transformation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core data pipelines and infrastructure powering analytics, experimentation, ML, and AI use cases across product, clinical, and operations teams.
• Own ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers with a focus on scalability, reliability, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
• Establish data quality, observability, and reliability standards including SLAs, monitoring, and incident response for critical datasets.
• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product engineering to translate data needs into reusable models and pipelines.
• Lead initiatives to improve code quality, testing, documentation, and data contracts across the team.
• Ensure privacy, security, and compliance for handling sensitive mental health data.
