Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Sr Staff Attorney to handle a diverse auto and general liability portfolio from early assessment through trial. This remote role is ideal for a seasoned attorney based in Western Washington or Northwest Oregon with strong litigation and trial experience.

You will collaborate with Claims, advise insureds directly, and lead files with strategic focus while enjoying the flexibility and modern in-house environment.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active law license in Washington and ability to appear in local/state federal courts.
• Preference for admission in Oregon/Idaho and willingness to apply.
• 7 years of relevant litigation experience including insurance defense.
• First-chair trial and/or appellate experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage auto and general liability matters from inception through trial or other resolution.
• Take and defend depositions, work with experts, and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Provide timely legal advice and liability/damages evaluations to Claims and insureds.
• Represent clients at trials, hearings, mediations, and ADR proceedings.
• Drive case strategy, evaluate exposure, and ensure timely disposition.
