Anthropic is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Claude Developer Platform and set the technical direction for Claude API across multiple teams. You will align research, inference, platform, infrastructure, and safeguards to ensure reliability, scale, and responsible deployment.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive high-impact initiatives, and influence architecture and tooling at a global level, with preference for candidates in SF Bay Area or NYC.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience with a Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Shaped technical strategy for large-scale API or distributed systems.
• You lead through influence, not formal authority.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and API architecture.
• You collaborate across Research, Inference, Platform, Infrastructure, Safeguards.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for the Claude API across Core, Capabilities, Knowledge, Distributability, and Agents.
• Identify and personally lead the highest-complexity initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Serve as the primary technical decision-maker for major architectural decisions.
• Mentor Staff-level engineers across the org.
• Collaborate with Research, Inference, Platform, Infrastructure, and Safeguards for reliability and security.
