Job summary

Capital One seeks a Staff AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. This remote-eligible role focuses on building and deploying large-scale AI systems, leveraging foundations, LLMs, vector databases and guardrails.

You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, PMs and analysts to push the frontier of responsible AI across banking products. The ideal candidate will have deep technical grounding in AI, strong software engineering skills, and a track record of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years in AI/ML algorithm development or
• Master's degree plus 6+ years in AI/ML algorithm development or technologies

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for performance and cost
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
