Job summary

Foodsmart is seeking a Staff AI Engineer who will shape the architecture and delivery of AI-powered systems across the organization. You’ll operate at the intersection of backend engineering and applied machine learning—designing resilient infrastructure, deploying cutting‑edge models, and mentoring engineers across teams.

You will guide AI strategy, drive platform-wide standards, and collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to deliver scalable, real‑world impact from AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience building AI-backed systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and implementation of distributed backend systems and APIs serving ML models.
• Lead technical design for AI integration across product lines with real-time and batch inference.
• Fine-tune and deploy pre-trained models for mission-critical use cases.
• Evaluate build vs. buy and integrate external AI services.
• Define platform-wide standards for backend, MLOps, model governance, and observability.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to elevate design and code quality.
• Collaborate with product, ML research, data engineering, and DevOps to align initiatives with business goals.
• Influence AI strategy and roadmap, evaluate new technologies.
• Lead root-cause analyses and performance tuning.
