Job summary

Forward Financing in Boston, MA, seeks a Staff Software Engineer - Applied AI to architect and build AI-powered backend services using foundational models (OpenAI, Claude, Hugging Face). You will translate business needs into scalable implementations across stacks, focusing on AI workflows, data processing, and reliable services.

You will collaborate with product, data scientists, and frontend engineers to deploy, test, and iterate AI capabilities on AWS/Snowflake, embracing a remote-first

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven backend software engineer with strong Python skills; Ruby/Go a plus.
• Design and develop scalable backend systems, APIs, and distributed services.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containers, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with major AI models and AI APIs; data pipelines and orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into functional AI solutions and end-to-end implementations.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for AI-powered features.
• Create scalable and maintainable backend architectures for AI workflows.
• Integrate AI services across stacks with AWS and Snowflake.
