Job summary

Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the accounting team by preparing financial schedules, performing general accounting functions, and managing full-cycle accounts payable. The role includes month-end close support, sales tax filings, and reconciliation to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent accounting experience.
• 5–7 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Avalara, Sovos, or similar sales tax software is a plus.
• Knowledge of state sales tax regulations and filing requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file state sales tax returns and respond to sales tax inquiries.
• Coordinate licensing and ensure regulatory compliance; support external audits.
• Prepare financial schedules and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset records and asset tracking.
• Process cash management activities including ACH and wire payments.
• Assist with month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Develop and improve financial reporting processes and data accuracy.
