Job summary

OSC in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to ensure US GAAP-compliant financial reporting, maintain the general ledger, and support audits. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, CPA preferred, and advanced Excel and ERP proficiency. This full-time position reports to the Controller and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in general financial accounting and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Demonstrated experience in general ledger accounting, financial consolidation, technical accounting research, and audit procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF/IFS, and data modeling).
• Strong project management capabilities and organizational skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and navigate effectively in ERP systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate P&L and Balance Sheet accounting in compliance with US GAAP and internal policies, while monitoring regulatory compliance and supporting annual audit and tax filing processes.
• Perform month-end close procedures and prepare general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and record journal entries.
• Support the annual audit process, through coordination with external auditors, preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, and addressing audit inquiries.
• Assist department with creating and updating accounting process documentation.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of data to support business decision-making.
• Lead or support cross-functional projects, including systems upgrades and enhancements.
• Serve as technical accounting resource for complex transactions and system-related matters.
• Partner with operations’ personnel and Finance team to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
• Promote continuous improvement in project management and accounting processes by identifying, designing, and implementing best-practice solutions from other locations.
• Other duties, as assigned.
