Job summary

Gary Merlino Construction Co., Inc. (GMCC) in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support monthly close, financial reporting, and general ledger activities across multiple divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or job-cost industry experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Sage 300 CRE, or similar construction accounting/ERP systems a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries; perform general ledger reconciliations for assigned divisions.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost analysis.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions across GMCC's divisions.
• Maintain and analyze fixed asset schedules and depreciation.
• Support external audit and tax preparation requests.
• Assist with sales/use tax and excise tax filings.
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows.
• Collaborate with project accountants, operations, and division controllers.
