Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant, Transaction Processing to manage month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role supports audits, provides critical insights, and advances accounting accuracy through independent work in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires strong GAAP knowledge, 3–5 years of accounting experience, and proficiency with ERP systems, particularly Oracle. A CPA/CMA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close processes and reconciliations.
• Proficient with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reviews monthly close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepares financial statements, variance reports, and management reports.
• Reconciles intercompany, cash, fixed assets, and tax accounts.
• Supports tax filings and regulatory reporting for accuracy.
• Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Provides accounting research and guidance on transactions per guidelines.
• Prepares reports for external filings (SEC where applicable).
• Identifies and implements process improvements in accounting functions.
• Collaborates with auditors, tax authorities, and analysts for transparency.
