Job summary

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is seeking a finance professional to support the Regional Director Finance & Business Support. You will join the hotel’s finance team, delivering accurate reporting and maintaining internal controls while supporting daily operations.

This role emphasizes month-end close, tax returns, audits, and process improvements. Strong accounting background and leadership are essential for success in a luxury hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in accounting practices and principles.
• 3+ years in accounting related fields.
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
• Experience with capital projects management and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, friendly service while supporting Finance and hotel operations.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts.
• Post month-end journal entries and assist monthly close.
• Monitor and audit internal controls per SOPs.
• Run daily accounting activities for accurate operations.
• Prepare monthly property tax return.
• Produce financial reports and variance analyses for decisions.
• Analyze results and assist forecasting and budgeting.
• Maintain accounting records, contracts, and leases.
• Support audits with required documentation and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Reporting to the Regional Director Finance & Business Support, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following

• Deliver professional, friendly, and engaging service while supporting the Finance team and hotel operations.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts and investigate reconciling items.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries and assist with the monthly financial close process.
• Ensure control systems are monitored and audited on a regular basis, as documented by NCA Standard Operating Procedures, to measure compliance with internal controls
• Execute daily accounting activities to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.
• Prepare monthly tax return for the property.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and other management reports to support business decisions.
• Analyze financial results and assist with forecasting, budgeting, and operational performance reporting.
• Maintain accounting records, contracts, leases, and other financial documentation.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in accepted accounting practices and principles required
• Previous experience in Hotel Accounting is preferred
• 3+ years progressive work related experience in multiple areas of accounting and/or capital projects management and reporting, financial and/or business analysis, accounting, merger/acquisition analysis, or a related area
• Demonstrated experience with accounting system or similar financial software for the purpose of financial reporting, analysis and presentation
• Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and relevant computer applications required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
