Job summary

Ursa Major seeks a Senior Responsible Engineer for Solid Missile Systems to lead SRM architecture and drive design maturity from concept to production-ready hardware.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, coordinate analyses, and ensure qualification and testing align with performance goals, safety requirements, and cost targets. This highly autonomous role requires strong leadership and communication with government/defense partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in propulsion or aerospace product development, including solid rocket motor design and systems integration.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with SRM-specific subsystems including cases, nozzles, insulation, and grain design.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to balance performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Product Architecture – Own the design and evolution of SRM architecture across programs.
• Product Maturity – Manage product and team from concept through development and maturation.
• Product Qualification – Plan and coordinate qualification activities and testing.
• Product Engineering Analysis – Organize analysis for propulsion performance, mass, trajectory, thermal and structural checks.
• Production-Readiness – Ensure design-for-manufacture and cost considerations are integrated.
• Product Risk Strategy – Identify and mitigate technical and program risks.
• Secondary Customer Interaction – Lead technical interchanges and deliverables for customers.
