Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Senior Ballistician to support research, design, analysis, test and evaluation of next‑gen SRM technologies. You will deliver technical results to design teams and government partners, shaping propulsion solutions for national security challenges.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 4+ years in solid rocket motors or ballistics, and experience with energetics analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4+ years in solid rocket motors, ballistics, or related design/analysis.
• Experience with energetics performance analysis.
• Experience with experimental design and data analysis.
• Proficiency with CLWire, SPP, or similar ballistic tools.
• Familiarity with control theory in engineering.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Must be eligible for Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform ballistics analysis to meet programmatic requirements and inform/validate design.
• Develop, refine, and validate computational methods to predict propellant performance and ballistic performance.
• Review test data and draw conclusions to influence future designs.
• Prepare and present ballistic results to government partners and customers.
• Support characterization, testing, and modeling of energetic materials.
• Support rapid response failure investigations and deviation closures.
• Collaborate with systems, design, and manufacturing to ensure motor performance is manufacturable.
• Organize/prepare/present major program findings to internal and external customers.
• Other duties as assigned
