Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Infrastructure to deploy, scale, and maintain compute, storage, and networking for manufacturing systems across Starship, Starlink, Starshield, and Terafab.

You will design reliable systems, manage infrastructure as code, and collaborate with software teams to ensure high availability and performance. The role requires onsite work at Bastrop, TX, with extended hours and potential travel to multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or an engineering discipline or 7+ years of professional SRE/DevOps experience
• 3+ years of Python development experience
• Experience with Linux operating systems
• Experience with compute, storage, and/or networking infrastructure in production
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools
• Familiarity with containers and virtualization (Docker, Kubernetes, vSphere, QEMU, KVM)
• Databases and data modeling (Postgres, Clickhouse)
• Ability to translate high-level requirements into implementations from first principles
• Comfort with mission-critical systems and urgency in support scenarios
• Strong communication with customers, peers, and management

Responsibilities

• Deploy, upgrade, operate, maintain, and scale compute, storage, and networking for manufacturing systems
• Manage infrastructure as code and use observability to monitor platform health
• Design for reliability, stability, and scale; remove bottlenecks with measurement
• Practice proactive maintenance: capacity planning and lifecycle management
• Collaborate with software engineers and site teams to build operable systems
• Lead incident response and blameless postmortems
• Provide high-quality support to manufacturing and engineering users
• Participate in on-call and travel to sites for deployments and incidents
