Job summary

ISO New England Inc. is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to elevate reliability, observability, and automation across IT services.

This hands-on role collaborates across infrastructure, platform, cyber security, and application teams to reduce toil and scale automation. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in SRE/DevOps, strong Splunk experience, and expertise with Terraform IaC, scripting, and automation.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems engineering, platform engineering, or IT operations.
Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms; hands-on Splunk preferred.
Experience designing, deploying, or managing infrastructure using Terraform and IaC practices.
Strong scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and supporting automation solutions in an enterprise environment.
Ability to read, understand, review, troubleshoot, and refine code produced by engineering teams or AI-assisted platforms.
Knowledge of distributed systems, networking, enterprise infrastructure, and cloud platforms.
Familiarity with SRE principles including SLOs, error budgets, observability, and toil reduction.
Preferred: experience in mission-critical or regulated environments, AI-assisted development tools, ITIL/SRE best practices, resilience testing.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry platforms.
Administer, maintain, automate, and improve the Splunk platform (data onboarding, indexing, dashboards, health monitoring, scalability).
Develop and automate Splunk onboarding, configuration, monitoring, and workflows to improve reliability.
Develop meaningful KPIs and dashboards for service health.
Engineer and implement resilience patterns including high availability, disaster recovery, and automated failover.
Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to plan resilience testing and failover exercises.
Conduct performance testing, capacity modeling, forecasting, and right-sizing.
Participate in major incident response to accelerate restoration and identify improvements.
Eliminate manual toil through automation, runbooks, alerting, and KPI collection.
Design, develop, and maintain automation tooling using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure using Terraform and IaC practices.
Identify gaps in observability coverage and drive solutions to close them.
Ensure production readiness with architecture and application teams.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate automation while ensuring reliability and security.
Drive continuous improvement to reduce incidents.
