Job summary

Datavant seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Data & ML Platform team. You will build a resilient, observable, and scalable data platform supporting data and ML workloads across the organization.

You will operate Databricks and Snowflake platforms, design for reliability, advance observability with Datadog, and drive CI/CD and data workflow automation in a hybrid cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps roles supporting data-intensive or ML-powered applications.
• AI-native working style with daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent.
• Hands-on Databricks experience, including workspace setup and cluster/job management; experience with Snowflake as well.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure on AWS (or similar), including VPCs, IAM, event-driven patterns, and serverless compute.
• Proven expertise with observability tools (Datadog) and platform-wide logging/monitoring.
• Strong CI/CD capabilities with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and deployment automation for data systems.
• Shell scripting and Python knowledge.
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve Databricks and Snowflake platforms lifecycle, including automation, governance, job orchestration, and cost optimization.
• Design for reliability across cloud environments; drive failover, autoscaling, chaos testing, and capacity planning.
• Advance observability with platform-wide monitoring, alerting, and logging; define SLOs/SLAs for critical services (Datadog).
• Drive CI/CD for Data & ML; automate deployments of data pipelines, ML workflows, and infra components (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
• Enable data flow across platforms with patterns for inter- and intra-cloud movement (Snowflake, S3, Delta Lake, Kafka).
• Champion event-driven architectures using EventBridge, SNS/SQS, and Lambda for scalable data systems.
• Collaborate across teams; serve as SRE and platform partner for analytics, data science, and product use cases.
• Contribute to strategy on data platform architecture, ML enablement, and data product strategy.
