Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Data & ML Platform team. You’ll build a resilient, observable, and scalable platform enabling data and ML workloads at scale.

Ideal candidates have an SRE mindset with cloud infrastructure expertise, and experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and modern CI/CD tooling. You will collaborate across Data, ML, and App Engineering teams to deliver secure, production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps supporting data-intensive or ML-powered apps.
• AI-native working style: daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent.
• Hands-on Databricks experience including workspace setup, cluster/job management, and CI/CD integration; Snowflake experience.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure on AWS or similar.
• Observability expertise with Datadog and platform-wide logging/monitoring.
• Strong CI/CD skills with GitHub Actions and Terraform.
• Shell scripting and Python knowledge.
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate and Improve Databricks and Snowflake: lifecycle, automation, governance, orchestration, cost optimization.
• Design for Reliability: architect resilient, scalable, secure infrastructure with failover and capacity planning.
• Advance Observability: build monitoring, alerting, logging; define SLOs/SLAs for key services.
• Drive CI/CD for Data & ML: automate deployments of data pipelines and infra components using GitHub Actions, Terraform.
• Enable Data Flow Across Platforms: patterns for inter- and intra-cloud movement (Snowflake, S3, Delta Lake, Kafka).
• Champion Event-Driven Architectures: use EventBridge, SNS/SQS, Lambda for scalable data systems.
• Collaborate Across Teams: be SRE and platform partner for analytics, data science, and product use cases.
• Contribute to Strategy: influence data platform architecture, ML enablement, and data product strategy.
