Job summary

Datavant seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Data & ML Platform team. You’ll help build a resilient, observable, and scalable platform for data and ML workloads across our organization.

You’ll operate Databricks and Snowflake, design reliable cloud infrastructure, and drive CI/CD using GitHub Actions and Terraform. Collaboration with data engineers, scientists, and analysts is essential to deliver secure, production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps roles supporting data-intensive or ML-powered applications.
• AI-native working style with daily use of code assistants and AI tools.
• Hands-on Databricks experience, including workspace setup, cluster/job management, and CI/CD integration; Snowflake experience as well.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure on AWS, including VPCs, IAM, event-driven patterns, and serverless compute.
• Proven expertise with observability tools (Datadog) and platform-wide logging/monitoring design.
• Strong CI/CD skills with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and deployment automation for data systems.
• Scripting in shell and Python; experience building highly available, fault-tolerant systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and Improve Databricks and Snowflake: lifecycle management, automation, workspace governance, job orchestration, cost optimization.
• Design for Reliability: build resilient, scalable infrastructure across cloud environments; plan for failover, autoscaling, and capacity.
• Advance Observability: develop platform-wide monitoring, alerting, and logging; define SLOs/SLAs.
• Drive CI/CD for Data & ML: automate deployments of data pipelines, ML workflows, and infra components using GitHub Actions and Terraform.
• Enable Data Flow Across Platforms: support inter- and intra-cloud data movement (Snowflake, S3, Delta Lake, Kafka).
• Champion Event-Driven Architectures: use EventBridge, SNS/SQS, and Lambda to build scalable data systems.
• Collaborate Across Teams: serve as SRE and platform partner for analytics, data science, and product use cases.
• Contribute to Strategy: influence architecture decisions for data platform, ML enablement, and data product strategy.
