Job summary

ASCENDING Staff SRE/Cloud SME is a 100% remote, long-term contract role focused on transforming a large monolithic system into a cloud-native platform. You will lead multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) efforts, Kubernetes orchestration, and security across the stack.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture using domain-driven design, and drive DevOps practices with robust monitoring and CI/CD. Remote within the continental US.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with cloud platforms and multi-cloud (AWS and Azure).
• 7+ years rearchitecting large-scale monolithic apps to cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on Kubernetes expertise with AKS and EKS.
• Strong cloud networking design and problem solving.
• Terraform IaC deployment and management.
• Security best practices for containers and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• Bonus: knowledge of load balancing algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical rearchitecting of a monolithic system into a microservices-based, cloud-native app.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Product to define system architecture using DDD principles.
• Conduct technology evaluations and recommend new tools, frameworks, and cloud services.
• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting for system performance and availability.
• Drive DevOps adoption across the SDLC and ensure CI/CD integration.
