Job summary

Block, Inc. is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the SRE team in New York. You will proactively and reactively improve reliability of Block's platform and infrastructure, using AI-driven tooling to enhance observability and reduce toil.

You will participate in primary on-call rotations, lead incident command during high-severity events, and help standardize tooling, deployment patterns, and signal detection across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience running production oncall for high-availability systems.
• Familiarity with AI-driven tooling for observability or automation.
• Strong incident management skills with blameless postmortems.
• Ability to design safe deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend platforms to improve system reliability.
• Lead incident command during sev 0–1 events.
• Coordinate stabilization and escalation pathways.
• Improve signal detection and reduce noise with AI-driven tooling.
• Standardize reliability tools across platforms.
• Drive platform-wide reliability improvements.
