Job summary

Contact Government Services (CGS) seeks a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server for a full-time, mid-level role in information technology. The team emphasizes government-focused solutions and continuous learning opportunities within CGS’s collaborative environment.

The candidate will oversee migrations, backups, capacity planning, and the deployment of Microsoft technologies, while supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience with source/control, bug tracking, SDLC, and integration of Relational Databases.

Responsibilities

• Administering SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Providing all aspects of basic systems administration support including planning, testing, installations, and configurations of new hardware and software.
• Recommending/implementing solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and/or support Microsoft Technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services.
• Support visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Performing back ups of the web, application, and database servers according to policies; daily incremental and full weekly backups.
• Performing database activities such as monitoring, space management, and support, as well as extended hours of support for database systems when required.
