Job summary

Government Publishing Office (GPO) seeks a Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide senior SQL Server expertise across enterprise production environments. You will lead troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning, and health monitoring for SQL Server and clusters, while coordinating with Oracle DBA peers and supporting RFCs and tickets in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of hands-on SQL Database Administrator experience in enterprise production environments.
• Expertise across SQL Server, SQL Clustering, SQL Scripting, and PL/SQL.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access in multi-platform environments.
• Competent in IaC for golden configurations, backup/DR strategies, patching cadence, and security governance.
• Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms (ServiceNow) and database monitoring tools (Idera, SolarWinds).
• Experience troubleshooting application-level integrations with SQL Server (e.g., SharePoint).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical resource for SQL Server administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Lead capacity planning and system health monitoring for SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments.
• Manage RFCs and ServiceNow tickets per SLAs.
• Assist internal customers with building, configuring, and troubleshooting SQL databases.
• Troubleshoot integration issues tied to SQL Server (e.g., SharePoint).
• Produce weekly reports documenting work and outcomes.
• Collaborate with other DBAs to ensure coverage across the environment.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and procedures.
