Job summary

Government Publishing Office (GPO) is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide expert SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and proactive capacity planning. This role supports the agency's business systems databases and requires strong experience across multi-platform environments including SharePoint integrations.

You will lead ticket resolution, implement IaC-driven configurations, and collaborate with Oracle DB peers to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator in enterprise production environments

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical resource for all SQL Server administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning activities
• Lead proactive capacity planning and system health monitoring for SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments
• Manage and resolve assigned RFCs and ServiceNow tickets in accordance with operational SLAs
• Assist internal customers/users with building, configuring, and troubleshooting SQL databases
• Troubleshoot application-level integration issues tied to SQL Server (e.g., SharePoint connectivity)
• Produce weekly support activity reports documenting work performed and outcomes
• Collaborate with the Senior Oracle DBA and mid-level team members to ensure consistent operational coverage across the full database environment
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures
