Job summary

SST Schools is seeking a Coordinator to oversee Special Education, Section 504, and Dyslexia programs in alignment with federal, state, and district requirements. You will ensure effective instructional services based on IEPs and 504 plans, coordinating training and scheduling across SPED teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and SPED experience, with preferred Texas certification. Strong leadership, organization, and collaboration skills are essential for success in a fast-paced school

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 2 years of special education teaching experience (Preferred).
• Valid Texas Educator Certification with required special education endorsement (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Trains teachers of a special population, general education teachers, and other staff and ensure they understand and comply with confidentiality of students.
• Participates in professional development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
• Assists in scheduling classes for SPED instruction.
• Plans and implements staff development and in-service programs for special education.
• Monitors SPED/504 students’ progress and uses evaluations to coordinate SPED instruction and schedule.
• Compiles and files reports and documents required by district, state, and federal laws.
• Ensures SPED classrooms are safe, organized, and accessible to all students.
• Maintains communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers about student progress.
• Collaborates with district personnel and Region service centers to educate on SPED/504 services and programs.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to meet SPED/504 needs.
• Advocates for SPED/504 students to ensure equitable opportunities.
• Communicates instructional expectations to students and keeps them informed of progress.
• Supports teachers and administrators in implementing appropriate strategies for students with disabilities.
• Supports accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in general ed and SPED times.
• Ensures instructional programs reflect learning styles and modalities.
• Disseminates modifications, accommodations, and IEPs to teachers and keeps documentation.
• Plans and implements new programs and services to meet identified needs.
• Plans ARD/504 meetings and serves on the ARD/504 Committee.
• Participates in placement decisions based on data.
• Assists staff in providing appropriate environment for mainstreamed students.
• Establishes objectives based on evaluation findings for ARD recommendations.
• Assesses relation between performance and handicapping conditions.
• Performs related work as required.
