Job summary

Gensler in the Baltimore area seeks a Specifications Specialist to assist project teams with Preliminary Descriptions, Outline Specifications, and Construction Project Manuals. You will mentor staff and edit specifications, leveraging MasterSpec and E-Specs to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will support regional leaders, develop master specification sections, and train teams on best practices while collaborating with Manufacturers Representatives to elevate project quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited school preferred.
• Registered architect or interior designer preferred.
• CDT certificate or CCS certification preferred.
• Experience in building and interior fitout specifications writing required.
• Ability to edit and produce specifications from masters is preferred.
• Ability to write customized specification sections is a plus.
• Use of AIA MasterSpec through E-Specs to create/edit specs is a plus.
• Good command of English; Spanish/Portuguese a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Communicate firm best practices, policies, and procedures to project teams, with a focus on material research capabilities.
• Educate and mentor staff on master specification documents and editing methodology.
• Liaise with Manufacturers Representatives for research and project support.
• Provide specification editing support for various Studios and Practice Areas.
• Assist Regional Specification Leaders in developing and maintaining master specification documents.
• Support Regional Specification Leaders in preparing educational materials on specifications.
• Aid in conducting compliance training and monitoring activities.
• Write technical specifications that comply with project requirements and codes.
• Leverage knowledge of materials and construction methods to recommend specifications.
• Develop and maintain master specification sections to ensure consistency across projects.
