Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking a Sr. Specialty Physician Coder in California. The role involves reviewing and coding office, hospital, and surgical procedures to ensure accurate reimbursement for inpatient and outpatient services.

The Senior Coder will interact with contract coders, maintain coding operations, and align with MemorialCare policies while supporting the coding compliance program.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in hospital or physician’s office as a medical coder.
• 2+ years in a specialty coder role: Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Interventional Radiology, Oncology/Chemotherapy/Infusion.
• Expert knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze specialty coding and billing for charge processing.
• Code office, hospital, and surgical procedures for reimbursement.
• Ensure accurate and compliant medical coding for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Collaborate with Coding Compliance Manager on coding trends and action items.
