Position Overview

Direct Hire, 100% Remote

Apex Systems seeks a Senior Spark Data Engineer to join an innovative Data team, driving Databricks adoption and leading Data Unification & Optimization efforts.

Must Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise Data Engineering or Software Development
• 4-5 years’ experience with Spark
• Advanced Python or PySpark skills
• Experience with Databricks or Databricks Spark
• Managing and tuning Data Lake and Lakehouse storage with data pipelines

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud data technologies
• Drive Spark Databricks adoption organization-wide
• Lead Data Unification & Optimization initiatives
• Design, develop, and maintain data architecture and pipelines following ETL principles
• Solve complex data problems to deliver actionable insights
• Create data products for analytics and data science teams
• Promote sharing, re-use, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Evaluate and deploy emerging data engineering tools and processes
• Collaborate with business analysts and architects on technical solutions

Preferred Skills

• Kafka or Java background (Observability)
• Experience with Apache Iceberg or similar tools like Monte Carlo
• SQL, Azure Data Factory experience
• Experience developing analytics applications (Power BI, QlikView, SAS, etc.)
• Knowledge of ER and Dimensional modeling

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS, or related field + 10 years of relevant experience
