Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Operating Systems Engineer for the Flight Software team to design, develop, and own software that brings our spacecraft to life. You will tackle autonomous systems challenges and collaborate with mission operations, GNC, and hardware teams to turn ideas into flight-ready software.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years writing code for operating systems, strong Python/C++/Rust, and experience with embedded Linux platforms and bootloaders. U.S.

Qualifications

• 8+ years writing code for operating systems, ideally Yocto or embedded Linux on spacecraft or hardware.
• Experience with embedded Linux platforms and bootloaders.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust.
• U.S. Person status is required to access export controlled data.

Responsibilities

• Develop the low level software that configures and drives processor peripherals and communication interfaces on avionics.
• Develop, configure, and maintain embedded Linux platforms and bootloader frameworks (Yocto, Buildroot, WolfBoot, U-Boot).
• Design, implement, and validate firmware update mechanisms including bootloader integration and secure deployment.
• Design and implement security enhancements across complex software architectures to improve system integrity and resilience.
