Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Level 4 Harnessing and Packaging Engineer to own internal harnessing and packaging for the TeraWave flight product, guiding from ideation to high-rate production. You will shape manufacturability, reliability, and scalability in a space-grade environment.

You will lead design for manufacturing, collaborate with suppliers, and drive verification campaigns while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring readiness for high-volume aerospace manufacturing.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in the design and delivery of electronics packaging and/or harnessing for complex systems as an integrated part of a final product.
• Proven expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost reduction methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA): embed DFM/DFA into all stages for internal harnesses, enclosures, PCB/PCBA, and electrical assemblies.
• Production Transition Leadership: lead the transition to high-rate production from low-rate builds.
• Process Development: define, develop, and validate production processes, tooling, and test procedures.
• Technical Design: create 3D models and 2D drawings for internal harnesses and enclosures using Creo, SolidWorks, Altium, Windchill.
• Supplier Collaboration: act as primary technical contact for external suppliers and qualify their processes.
• Analysis & Verification: oversee structural, thermal, and vibration analysis; run verification/validation campaigns.
• Mentorship: mentor junior engineers in design for manufacturing and product maturation.
