Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a software engineer to join the Lunar Permanence team, supporting the VTB software infrastructure for hardware-in-the-loop spaceflight testing. You will design and implement the VTB SW infra, collaborate with stakeholders, and help integrate avionics, flight, and ground software in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated skill at deploying production distributed systems to a mix of cloud and physical compute using systems like Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong and active development skills in C / C++ and Python
• Solid understanding of IP networking concepts
• Experience with communications protocols and hardware drivers
• Experience using and customizing Continuous Integration / Continuous Development pipelines (CI/CD - e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
• Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
• Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development, review, deployment, and support phases of the software product lifecycle.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of the VTB SW infrastructure
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet their needs.
• Support VTB integration of the avionics, flight software and ground software.
• Diagnose and fix software problems at multiple levels, including: installation, deployment, configuration, server side and client side issues.
