Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a seasoned software engineering lead for the Platform Engineering Team within the Lunar Permanence unit to shape the next generation of spaceflight platforms. You will guide full-stack development, mentor engineers, and set the architectural direction across cross-functional teams to deliver mission-critical software.

You will work on safety-critical processes, liaise with multiple disciplines, and advance tooling to improve efficiency for lunar programs.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 12 years of professional experience minimum.
• Experience in developing and architecting full-stack applications.
• Experience improving application stability through monitoring and reviews.
• Experience in database design (SQL, NoSQL, InfluxDB).
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar).
• Experience constructing RESTful APIs (Python, NodeJS, or Go).
• Experience with Data Engineering pipelines.
• Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, CI/CD.
• Experience using IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes).
• Ability to work independently and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack web application architecture and development efforts with minimal oversight.
• Train, guide, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers on best practices.
• Set direction and goals for the team regarding platform architecture and roadmap.
• Collaborate across the Lunar Permanence unit to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Collect and analyze customer data to understand usage and performance.
• Improve safety-critical software processes with tooling and efficiency enhancements.
