Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in WA state is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer for mission-critical spaceflight systems. You will design, implement, and verify embedded software tightly coupled to avionics hardware, including BSPs, boot code, and device drivers.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab debugging, reading datasheets, and optimizing performance across HW/SW boundaries in a collaborative, safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of embedded software experience with C/C++/Rust on Linux or similar.
• Strong debugging using cross hardware/software techniques and tools (GDB, XSDB, GRMON, logic analyzers).
• Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory buses, DMA, and CPU pipelines.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).

Responsibilities

• Develop Board Support Package software for new hardware, including driver development.
• Bare-metal or OS-level programming for hardware initialization and data processing.
• Hands-on debugging with avionics hardware using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG.
• Collaborate in design reviews, assess HW/SW partitioning, and benchmark performance.
• Bring up HW accelerators in modern SoCs (encoders/decoders/image processing cores).
