Blue Origin is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and verify mission-critical software for spaceflight systems. You will work closely with RF, FPGA, and DSP teams on BSPs, bare-metal and OS-level software, and HW/SW integration.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab debugging, hardware datasheet reading, and performance tradeoffs while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. This is a location-based role with relocation possibilities and a strong focus on safety and

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded software/hardware domains.
• Experience developing BSPs and applications for embedded Linux targets.
• Strong C/C++ design with Linux scripting experience.
• Strong debugging using cross HW/SW tools (GDB, XSDB, GRMON, logic analyzers).
• Knowledge of computer architecture, memory buses, DMA, and pipelines.
• Experience with Git version control.

Responsibilities

• Develop Board Support Package software for new hardware, including driver development.
• Bare-metal or OS-level programming for hardware initialization and data processing.
• Debug hardware with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG tools.
• Define HW/SW partitioning and contribute to design reviews.
• Deploy benchmarking code to characterize hardware performance.
• Bring up HW accelerators in modern SoCs and interfaces (I2C, SPI, TCP/IP, etc.).
• Develop boot and fault-tolerance strategies and write comprehensive test plans.
