Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer – Optical Comms to lead engineering activities across the product lifecycle, translating mission objectives into technical solutions. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure system performance, schedule, and cost targets are met.

Collaborating with software, hardware, mechanical, electrical, and program management teams, you will shape verification strategies, mitigate risks, and contribute to technical decision-making

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with typically 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles and lifecycle.
• Experience developing, managing, and verifying system requirements.
• Knowledge of architecture, interface management, integration and configuration management.
• Ability to interpret requirements and develop engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Decompose requirements into verifiable system and subsystem specs.
• Define hardware/software interfaces between payloads and the vehicle.
• Research optical payloads and conduct source selection.
• Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability to CONOPS.
• Define and manage interfaces across system elements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements.
• Support verification planning, configuration management, and risk assessment.
• Mentor junior engineers on systems engineering practices.
