Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Structures Engineer – Level 5 to join our East Engineering team in Dulles, VA. The role focuses on mechanical, systems, structural engineering and design for spacecraft subsystems, with a 9/80 schedule and every other Friday off. On-site work only.

The candidate will design, document, and test spacecraft structures, interfacing with customers and suppliers, and utilizing CREO CAD and GD&T knowledge. US citizenship and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience.
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain government clearance.
• On-site work at the Dulles or Colshire campuses required.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably CREO.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work on Spacecraft Structures, Payload, and Antenna mechanical hardware from requirements through integration and test.
• Perform detailed design tasks using CAD and other tools to develop and document designs for manufacturing.
• Interface with customers, program managers, and other disciplines; coordinate with suppliers.
• Develop test plans and procedures and support structural testing at component and spacecraft levels.
• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems under supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
