Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Orion Stress Analyst to provide on-site stress analyses and support structural testing for flight hardware in the Orion Production Engineering team. You will guide design changes, verify evolving mission requirements, and coordinate resolution of discrepancies with engineering.

Applicants should have strong FEMAP/NASTRAN experience, leadership in spacecraft structural methods, and US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with FEMAP finite element model pre/post processor.
  • Advanced knowledge of NASTRAN finite element solver.
  • Proven experience mentoring junior engineers in spacecraft structural analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of structural characteristics and load paths in complex systems.
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical techniques for structural analysis.
  • US Citizenship required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site stress analysis and structural test support for Orion flight hardware.
  • Deliver timely stress analyses to guide design changes and support verification/validation of requirements.
  • Dispostion of flight hardware discrepancies and coordination with Engineering to resolve issues.
  • Lead acceptance tests of composite and metallic structures.
  • Coordinate with Loads & Dynamics on environments; collaborate with Systems Engineering on verification tasks.
  • Generate performance metrics and status reports for Program Management.
