Job summary

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is hiring a Senior Spacecraft Mechanisms Engineer for NASA's Kennedy Space Center, FL to support lunar transportation programs and the MBT Office. You will assess flight hardware, deployment mechanisms, CAD models, analyses, and qualification testing using Siemens NX or SolidWorks to ensure flight readiness.

Qualifications include U.S. Citizenship, Active Secret Clearance, a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and 10+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract.
• Active Secret Clearance Required.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical or aerospace engineering experience.
• Experience with spacecraft mechanisms, flight hardware, or complex mechanical assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and design practices.
• Experience reviewing designs, analyses, CAD models, test results, and documentation.
• Experience developing or manipulating CAD models using Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Ability to work onsite at Kennedy Space Center, FL, and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent assessments of spacecraft mechanisms and flight hardware for NASA lunar missions.
• Evaluate designs, analyses, manufacturing processes, verification plans, and test programs to identify risks and maturity.
• Assess deployment mechanisms, hinges, latches, actuators, and docking interfaces.
• Analyze kinematics, loads, tolerances, margins, and interfaces.
• Review drawings, CAD models, requirements, analyses, test plans, and verification evidence.
• Perform independent mechanical analyses to validate design assumptions and determine risk.
• Conduct CAD-based fit checks and tolerance analyses using NX or SolidWorks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers to assess system interactions.
• Travel to NASA centers and facilities as required.
• Participate in NASA technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews.
• Prepare technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations for stakeholders.
