Portal Space Systems, based in Bothell, WA, seeks a Senior Loads & Dynamics Engineer to own the spacecraft dynamic environment from analysis to shaker table validation. You will develop launch and in-space loads, build dynamic models, and lead vibration, acoustic, and low-frequency test campaigns across ground handling to on-orbit operations.

The role bridges analysis and test, writing pre-test predictions, executing tests, and closing the loop with correlated models and verified margins.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, structural dynamics, or related.
• 5+ years in spacecraft/launch vehicle loads and dynamics.
• Hands-on experience planning or executing vibration testing for aerospace hardware.
• Experience developing and analyzing dynamic FEM models using FEMAP/Nastran or Simcenter 3D.
• Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for analysis automation, test data reduction, and reporting.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git.

Mansioni

• Develop and own spacecraft dynamic finite element models and reduced-order models for loads and response analyses.
• Perform coupled loads analysis with launch provider models across liftoff to separation events.
• Derive and maintain load factors, interface loads, and random vibration environments.
• Perform modal, frequency response, and random vibration analyses to predict responses and margins.
• Conduct vibroacoustic analyses to predict acoustic environments for panels and lightweight structures.
• Lead dynamic test planning and execution, including shaker and acoustic tests.
• Correlate test data to models, update models to meet correlation criteria, and prepare verification artifacts.
