Job summary

Inversion is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design, analysis, and qualification of electromechanical spaceflight systems. You will bridge electrical and mechanical domains, delivering actuators, sensors, enclosures, and thermal management for the Arc spacecraft.

You will lead hands-on design, first-principles analysis, hardware testing, and cross-functional coordination with avionics, structures, propulsion, and GNC teams to ensure seamless integration and mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years designing and testing electromechanical aerospace systems.
• Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).
• FEA experience with Ansys, Abaqus, or NASTRAN.

Responsibilities

• Design avionics mechanical systems for harsh thermal and mechanical flight environments.
• Package avionics enclosures, sensor mounts, and harness routes with mass and thermal considerations.
• Perform structural, thermal, and EMI/EMC analyses to validate designs.
• Lead test campaigns including vibration, thermal vacuum, and life-cycle tests.
• Create detailed drawings, ICDs, and specifications; collaborate across teams.
