Job summary

Inversion is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design, analysis, and qualification of complex electromechanical systems for space and atmospheric re-entry. You will bridge electrical and mechanical disciplines to develop integrated solutions for avionics enclosures, actuators, sensors, and thermal management critical to vehicle performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design avionics mechanical systems to protect electronics in harsh flight environments.
• Lead packaging of enclosures, sensor mounts, and harness routes with mass and thermal considerations.
• Perform structural, thermal, and electromagnetic analyses for spaceflight qualifications.
• Execute environmental tests (vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC) and life-cycle testing.
• Create detailed drawings, ICDs, and design specifications.
• Collaborate with fabrication and integration teams to iterate hardware.
• Drive design reviews and trade studies for architecture decisions.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers on PCB layouts and connector selection.
