Job summary

Astrion seeks an experienced Space Systems Engineer to join the Space Support to Theater Team under the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO), USSF, SSC, and Los Angeles AFB. This role advances, integrates, and delivers system-of-systems space capabilities to support national security objectives.

You will define enterprise requirements, perform mission engineering, and drive integration across USSF mission portfolios, coordinating with government, SETA, FFRDC, and contractor personnel.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science in a STEM field (Engineering, Physics, Earth Science, Mathematics, Operations Analysis, or related).
• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying space systems within USSF or DoD missions.
• Strong foundation in systems engineering, mission analysis, and system-of-systems integration.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of government, SETA, FFRDC, and contractor personnel.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with JIRA/Confluence.
• Excellent communication skills for briefing complex topics to senior decision-makers.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and integration of cutting-edge space capabilities across current and future systems.
• Perform mission engineering analysis and evaluate DRM risks, issues, and gaps (RIGs/RIGOs).
• Conduct system-level capability reviews and recommend solutions to close mission-critical gaps.
• Support war room planning, capability epoch development, and kill chain assessments to inform enterprise decisions.
• Develop enterprise requirements for high-priority space programs.
• Assess policy and technical drivers impacting system design, integration, and interoperability.
• Collaborate with SWAC, S2 / S4 / S6, Space Command, CCIB, and PEO offices to deliver integrated SATCOM, PNT, Missile Warning, TacISR, Launch, and BMC3 solutions.
• Prepare and present briefings, white papers, and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership.
