Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Staff System Safety Engineer to join our team in Dulles, VA. This 100% on-site role focuses on driving safety into spacecraft design through MIL-STD-882E practices and safety artifact development.

The candidate will coordinate with internal teams, prepare safety packages for reviews, and ensure compliance with AFSPCMAN 91-710, while working toward robust mission reliability and safety across programs.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance required at time of application.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E to analyze, mitigate hazards.
• Ability to obtain SAP clearance and develop safety artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and verify System Safety requirements to mitigate risks.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards in spacecraft per MIL-STD-882E.
• Prepare SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SSHA, FTA, SAR, HAZMAT, Software Safety, MSPSP.
• Coordinate with Cross-IPTs to adjudicate safety requirements and risk.
• Assist in launch range safety documentation per AFSPCMAN 91-710.
• Prepare design-review packages (SRR, PDR, CDR) for stakeholders.
