Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA, seeks a Staff Space Electrical Systems Engineer to own the electrical architecture for testbeds and space reactors. You will guide distribution, instrumentation, and control systems, coordinating with the Licensing team to ensure DOE/NRC compliance.

You will lead design reviews, draft safety analyses, and drive robust, fail-safe control solutions for high-reliability environments, including space and nuclear applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in designing and analyzing electrical/instrumentation systems, preferably in nuclear/aerospace/energy.
• Familiarity with regulated environments, wiring codes, safety classification.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical system level architecture of testbeds and space nuclear reactors.
• Design and assess electronics and control systems for harsh environments (space, nuclear).
• Lead integration, bring-up, and troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and test infra.
• Produce and review schematics, safety inputs, hazard analyses, test procedures/reports.
• Evaluate multi-OS or embedded control environments for real-time signal acquisition.
• Coordinate with regulators on design basis for instrumentation loops and fail-safe architecture.
• Own DSA inputs addressing electrical system hazards or single-point failures.
• Participate in design reviews ensuring electrical/I&C sections are complete and documented.
• Support hazard analysis and mitigation of electrical or instrumentation failure modes.
• Verify design meets safety-class or safety-significant standards.
