Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Network Software Engineer I to advance Space-to-Space and Space-to-Ground communications across a constellation. You will lead embedded software efforts, manage suppliers, and work with internal teams to hit program milestones while ensuring secure network systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a technical field, 5+ years of experience, and an active Secret clearance with US citizenship.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, aerospace engineering or similar.
5+ years of relevant work industry experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of network software.
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
Experience using Jira for software development management.
Experience with systems engineering methods including systems trades, requirements management, performance characterization, and interface management.
Active Secret security clearance, with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI.
U.S citizenship required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage software development and integration of routers, radios, and laser devices across spacecraft.
Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to develop and test an integrated system.
Interface with subcontractors and internal teams to maintain plans and milestones.
Design and develop simulation and test methods for constellation networking.
Define KPIs for contractors and internal teams.
Set cadence for subcontractors to deliver feature drops.
Develop staffing plans with senior leadership.
Plan major integration points and cross-team testing.
Drive best practices for feedback and improvements.
Maintain software development standards to meet requirements.
