Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for space vehicle programs. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, producible solutions, ensuring requirements are met across design, analysis and manufacturing.

A willingness to travel is required, up to 5% of the time. The role emphasizes strong communication skills, CAD proficiency, and hands-on experience with mechanical design processes in a dynamic space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience with 5+ years of professional engineering experience; or 3 years with a related Masters degree.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.
• Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience with interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (Creo, I-DEAS) and model-based product definition.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop mechanical design solutions using solid models, drawings and release of engineering work products.
• Review requirements from stress, dynamics, systems, thermal, manufacturing to ensure design compliance.
• Collaborate with program leadership, domain experts and manufacturing to meet requirements and schedules.
• Contribute to program achievements via accurate, producible engineering designs.
