Job summary

ManTech seeks a Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. The role supports the USSF Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Access Directorate at Los Angeles Air Force Base, focusing on NSS launch system safety and environmental compliance.

You will coordinate hazard analyses, review safety documentation, and interface with Range Safety and other agencies to ensure mission alignment and safety performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; military or industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• 7+ years of STEM experience with at least 3 years in NSS/Launch/Range/DoD/NASA or industry equivalent systems safety experience.
• Proven experience interfacing with computer-based database and scheduling tools, as well as Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and updating System Safety documentation, including SSMPs and PESHEs, to ensure compliance with DoD and AF requirements.
• Drafting and coordinating orbital safety products for NSS launches, including SDARs and ODMSP documentation.
• Providing acquisition support by drafting and assessing safety-related content in PWS, CDRL items, and System Performance Requirements Documents.
• Assisting the Debris Characterization project manager with coordination of airborne assets for root cause data collection.
• Performing general system safety tasks, interpretation of requirements, and development of technical summary reports for customer presentations.
• Interfacing with Range Safety, The Aerospace Corporation, Launch Service Providers, and other Government agencies to ensure mission alignment.
• Day-of-Launch Mishap Control Center operations, including documentation, checklists, and real-time support.
