Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support the development of safety-critical systems for the world’s first commercial human-rated space stations, contributing to America’s space program.

You will partner with engineering teams to document hazards, perform analyses such as FHA and crew survivability, and prepare safety data packages for certification. This full-time exempt role requires up to 20% travel and occasional evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace engineering or related field.
• Experience in aerospace, aviation, or safety-critical industry.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.
• Willingness to work evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering to document hazards and controls.
• Assess vehicle compliance and identify design improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate safety outcomes.
